The solution for the mod_ruby problem was posted in another thread opened by the OP.

That's why I was confused why k_oudom was compiling. But hey, when you want to learn you have to experiment Rex, but don't start running before you can walk. You'll fall very often.

Kind regards,

Eric

.. And if you want to compile httpd-2.2.13, just as an
experiment, you can find all documentation on the internet,
and spend some days reading it.

And / or sketch *) a configure line from the configure , etc.
in the spec file : Which is, what rpmbuild does, namely
'configure', 'make' and 'make install'.

*) "sketching configure" , example :
Code:
./configure --with-apr=%{_prefix} --with-apr-util=%{_prefix} --with-suexec-uidmin=500 --with-suexec-gidmin=100 --enable-pie --with-pcre --enable-mods-shared=all --enable-ssl --with-ssl --enable-distcache --enable-proxy --enable-cache --enable-disk-cache --enable-ldap --enable-authnz-ldap --enable-cgid --enable-authn-anon --enable-authn-alias --disable-imagemap
EDIT : or use this line, post # 2, @bathory :
./configure --prefix=/some/path/to/apache --enable-so

May not the most easy project .. I think, that's what
@ EricTRA says in post # 16 .. and I can add : Better
compile 1000--2000 easier applications before jumping
to Apache.
.....

I don't want to see installation template (such as _prefix). Let go straight to the compilation of httpd-2.2.13 to CentOS 5.3.
Because I know nothing about default installation directory of Linux System. I don't know that to replace with prefix. Hope you understand.

Still running before you can walk Rex, look out that you don't fall. It's very important to understand the 'nature of the beast' before you can tame it. I advice you to read some books or internet sites before jumping in the abyss without a parachute.

Kind regards,

Eric
