How to choose fonts for different languages in KDE?
Hi. Thanks for reading. I've been appreciating the feature in Firefox settings of choosing a separate font for each encoding. Now I've pretty much switched to Konqueror (KDE 3.2.2, Debian testing), which seems to work very well for me, but one thing about KDE is that it seems only to be possible to choose one systemwide font set. My problem is that I use an English installation and work primarily in English, but I also frequently want to see Chinese webpages, use Chinese IM, mail etc. The point is that the default Chinese font is just not very legible, compared for example to default Windows one. THen today I installed Opera on a whim, to see what the bang was about, and while not overly impressed; when viewing Chinese pages they were beautiful! Exactly how I want them! Except I don't want to switch to Opera, I want it all over KDE.
See my screenshot at leylop.51.net/stian/chinese-screenshot.png, and you'll see the difference.
So here is the crux: How does KDE determine what font to use when it encounters Chinese encoding, and how can I change this easily?
I would be eternally grateful for some insights (I also believe KDE options should include a font per codepage selector like Firefox and posted a bug to that effect, but it's probably a QT thing).
