How to change the char-set when mounting local harddisk

Hi guys:

I raised a question regarding the chinese file name before, may be I should re-phrase my question:

I am using Ubuntu Live CD to bootup my computer, and my question is, is there any way to set the defaut char-set (for me, Chinese) when mount the LOCAL harddrives, so that I can view the Chinese file names on the local harddrive.

The reason I emphasis Local is because there is no problem with my USB external harddrive, and I also know there is a tool: pmount, that can define the char-set used, but pmount can not be used with local harddrive, Or may be can, just I don't know.

Please help me.

Thanks a lot.
