How to change default TAB lenth ???

Hi,

I have small requirement. I need to get the TAB lenth and should be in position to change it. According to my knowledge we need to use an IOCTL call to get and there by set the TAB length. But I could not get any IOCTL options for the same.

And, We can do terminal settings through "stty" command. I even tried with that also. But I could not get any ...

Any on knows about this ???

How do you want to change the TAB size? Is this just for the terminal or a particular editor?

Hi Dan,

ThankQ for your response. I am looking for an option to change the TAB size (length) of the terminal. Is there any way to find the tab length ?. According to my understanding the default TAB size is 8. Is there any way to change the TAB size through any of system calls ?. I saw 'tabs' command but that is fulfilled my requirement ...

I haven't tried changing the tab size on the text console, but you may need to use a framebuffer console mode before changing the tab size will take effect.
