How to add Hplaserjet 2200d printer in Debain Linux
hello linux guru,
i am linux newbie , recently i change my taste from windows to linux. i have suceessfully installed but could not add printer. so your help in this regard is highly required. thanks a lot for helping me.
You can have a look into the propietary HP drivers for Linux at http://hplip.sourceforge.net/ to see if there are drivers available for you printer.
Also make sure you have CUPS installed and running for installing the printer. Instructions in HP website should be clear enough for installing. If in doubt or trouble, don't hesitate to comment back
First of all, I must agree with Hammett's suggestion about checking out the drivers and CUPS (Common Unix Printing System). There are tons of HP printer drivers, so don't be afraid. Secondly it would be great, if you tell us, are you using KDE or Gnome for a desktop environment. If you use KDE, than go to Kcontol, there Peripherals, and Printers. There you can use the KDE printer setup tool. You must use the "Administrator mode" button to install your printer on your whole system. If you don't use KDE, than open your favourite internet browser, and type this: http://127.0.0.1:631/ This is the CUPS web administration tool. You do not need an internet access to use this. Finally: it is needed to install cups and hp printer drivers first!!! You can use apt or synaptic (only in debian based systems) to gather the required drivers. Here search for hplip, hpoj, hpijs, and other hp stuff. I think you will need hplip.
