how to add a service at startup


Hi
I am using redhat CENTOS
I want to run the dhcpd service at system startup. How can i do this.

Please tell me the procedure for fedora 8 also to make any application or service to run at startup.

Use the chkconfig command.
type man chkconfig for more informations.

Read through the "chkconfig" manpage. You can enable a service to start for certain runlevels. You can also use a system-config-* gui program as well.

U can use the system-config-services gui interface or else use the command 'chkconfig [--level levels] name <on|off|reset|resetpriorities>'
where name represents the name of ur service

On debian, check update-rc.d
