how install fonts

hi all ,
i hope to help me to how to install fonts arabic under linux , i am used fedora core 3.0 .

All fonts I've "installed" have worked like
1) copy the font files under some directory, like /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/my_new_fonts/ for example
2) alter /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and in the beginning, among the other similar lines in Section "Files", add

FontPath     "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/my_new_fonts/"

3) Restart X server - either open up a console (ctrl+alt+f1) and run

Code:

init 3 && init 5

-- or simply press ctrl+alt+backspace

And that has been it. I'm not a pro in this area, though, so there might be other methods.
