how I can make my windows look like this(GNOME) + picture

the terminal window and its pannel is to the left side of the app
how can i configure gnome to do that for some apps ?
is there some soft for that ?
im on ubuntu,

Unfortunately, thats not Gnome from what I can tell. Looks to me like fvwm, Not sure though. I don't believe that Gnome has that functionality.

you mean window maker?
well ive tryed it a couple years ago by default it looks ugly as hell is there some good manual for getting it pretty(getting lost in google)...

PS i keep seeing this beautyfull screens of un default wm / *box
configuration and all i find is ugly
does it needs to have a degree for that?
or there just some HOWTO ?

Window Maker is ugly as sin. No matter what you do to it. FVWM though, is a bit better.


all of the *boxes (fluxbox, openbox, blackbox etc.) can be very pretty. Google search for "*box themes" or "fvwm themes". Most of the themes can be found at freshmeat.

The original link is actually a gtk color theme to match another (presumably released) fvwm theme by the same author. You also need to download and install the rezlooks engine for the color theme to work though. I think that there is some fvwm config file where you can specify where it places the title bar. (Don't crucify me if I am wrong - it may very well be set in the author's theme - but I really am not sure.)
