Actually, my thread ( http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...irefox-675414/ ) is different. We need the ability to block javascript/AJAX animation on a system-wide basis. My users can't possibly understand adding rules for each website (I can barely get most of them to figure out how to use a URL).

We use thin clients and the network and CPU load generated from such animation places extreme stress on the system. Plus, of course, animation can be very, very annoying.

It used to be easy- don't install Flash, turn off the blink tag, and disable animated GIF's. But all this new Javascript (and/or AJAX) stuff gets around all that. :(

As I proposed there, it probably has the making of a new type of Firefox addon, something that just targets the "typical" (if there are any) methods of javascript animation and hides or disables it automatically for ALL sites.
