How do you open .tar files!!!


Ok, number one, I need a program to open .tar files. Second, I need a volume control program. I have debian linux. Thanks.

1. tar -xvf filename.tar

2. try rexima, it's pretty cool.

.tar files are like zip files, i am assuming that you have a GUI so goto a terminal and type

tar xvf package.tar

where package is the name of the file

it will make a new dir, in the name of the package,
so

cd newdir

if you want to install then, look for a file called INSTALL or README
and read it with vi or pico or emacs

the sound control is depedant on your GUI so you have to tell me which one you are using
