how do i write to a device


I Have a program to read text but it says I am suposed to write text to /dev/voice but how do i write to a device ?

it is called voice 1.0 it says in the readme that it is like speechd and uses festival and all you have to do is write the text to the /dev/voice device and that is all the doc. that came w/ the program

Does the manufacturer (and who are they?) have a website? I ask because I'm not familiar with the program and would like to know more before trying to go further.
