how do I upgrade to glib 2.4.0?

I tried to replace glib 2.2.0 with glib 2.4.0, but my system will not let me do so because many other apps/packages depend on glib 2.2.0. What should I do now?

I am using redhat 9, and neither rpm -e nor rpm --upgrade let me remove or upgrade glib 2.2.0.

Please help a newbie...

Have you tried to install Glib-2.4.0 alongside the older version?

Hi tricky kid

I tried that too. the installation seems to be fine, however, when I tried to install atk1.6.0, it says that I still have 2.2.0 and recommend me to remove it... so I am still stuck...

This is the problems I hate when using RPM's.. have you tried to force the install or use --no-deps when installing? If you know its there but it still thinks your using the older version, you can force it not to check for dependencies, etc.

man rpm for more details and options.
