How do I unlock screen?

Using RHEL 4.
I am seeking your help for the following problem. Please help me.

If the machine becomes idle for a long time, the screen locks automatically. When the screen locks it is not taking the input from the keyboard (again, the surprise is that it is taking input from neumaric key pad input only) so i cannot give the password (which contains some alphabet too) to unlock the screen.

What is the problem and how do I solve it?

regards

screensaver redirect

Here is a couple of suggestions

See if you have a .xscreensaver file which holds local configuration. Check for this in the root home directory. Delete the file.

Try uninstalling the screensaver, then re-installing. Failing this see if you like xlock instead.

Locking the screen after a certain amount of time is actually a minor but useful security feature, as it creates a barrier to someone casually trying to use any random PC to send an Email, run a script, snoop around the hard drive, etc.

The local user should be the one setting the screensaver password, and that user should be able to remember his/her own password.
