I`m not angry with anyone, but I sure would like to reload my windows 98se again. Thank you for any help!

You can probably simply plug in your 98SE install disk and have it format all the partitions.

That'd be the easiest way.

If you want to use linux to do this, you'll need to boot up with your mandrake CD to rescue mode, and then use the command line, if you prefer this method, or cannot use a 98SE boot disk for some reason, post back and I'll be glad to walk you through it.

Cool

Hi, MasterC, and thank you for your time and share of knowledge. First, let me say that I don`t have he knowledge to rate an OS, but I do have the desire to learn. I will only say I do have the desire to learn. My first Batchellors was in Computer Science and Technology. But that was in the days of analog, wires and nails were programming tools of necessity. Now I come with my hat in hand to say, I am an incomplete dummy as far as knowing what to do in the digital world. I don`t even know where to look for this knowledge. So, if you would be good enough to lead the blind and help me get my 98SE reloaded, I will be forever grateful, but I won`t stop there.. If you would also take your time to recommend a short list of what I should study, I will not let your advice set waiting for use. I say," Those who can, teach, and those who cannot, do". Once again let me say THANK YOU, and I will wait your convenience. Joe Pickett(froedge@sbcglobal.net).

Wow, thanks Joe :)

Assuming you've got a CDROM and a windoze 98SE CD, you should only have to:
Ensure you've set your BIOS to boot from CD. To get into your BIOS to check you probably have to either Hold down F1 during bootup, or press delete during bootup. There are other ways, those 2 just seem to be the most common.
Once your BIOS is set to boot from CD, place the disc in your CDROM and restart your computer. From there, it's just following the steps to install windoze. It will automatically format your partitions for you, and remove all existence of linux by the end of the procedure.

As for a short list of things to study, I'd first think that a tutorial always a good choice:
http://www.linux.org/lessons/beginner/index.html
However you will need linux to learn on. So I also suggest head over to:
http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index.html (for English click the top link on the page that says this page is also available in english) and grab the knoppix iso:
ftp://csociety-ftp.ecn.purdue.edu/pub/knoppix/ (or any site listed on the mirror list at the above link)
And burn it. You can use knoppix to learn how to use linux, and not worry about installing anything to your hard drive. It's a linux distro that runs right from the CDROM. You just place it in the drive and it goes through everything for you, all the way into a Graphical environment for you to explore linux from. :)

Good Luck, and enjoy yourself!

Cool
