How do I start programs on x startup? xscreensaver & gkrellm
I've been trying to get this to work but somehow what people (and the docs ) say doesn't work. I want to run xscreensaver and gkrellm when my x starts. I don't use a graphical login manager and start with "startx /usr/bin/fluxbox" (where's the file in which I can change the default to fluxbox?). Now if I understand correctly the ~/.xinitrc is the first file run when I start x. That file runs the ~/.xsession file which I have to edit.
Now for xscreensaver I was told to put "xscreensaver &" at the end of the ~/.xsession file. And for gkrellm do I just have to put "gkrellm" at the end of this file as well?
personally i'd say add them to the start of .xinitrc, that's what i do. just make sure you have an & on the end of all commands before the final call for the flux itself.
