How do I rip a DVD?

How can I rip a DVD using command-line tools/GUI tools?

I tried acidrip but its not working.

I'd like to try some straightforward command-line tools or other GUI-based DVD rippers.

I want to rip my DVD (unencrypted) to avi or mpeg.

Thanks....

MPlayer has very good ripping facilities. What you want to do is get the MPEG part of the DVD separated from the rest.
