A problem has recently cropped up with ubuntu since i upgraded from edgy to 7.04. The signal from my video card goes through a seperate tv card, since i don't have tv i use my monitor with an avid media tv box. The box is completley unrelated apart from the fact that the pc signal goes through it. i used to be able to switch on my pc and watch the news while it booted up but now if i dont watch the boot when my computer starts theres no picture. You can switch on the box which image is shown but sisce my upgrade you have to watch the boot, then you can swap all you like. i wondered if there's a keyboard shortcut that allows me to restart X?
It should be noted that it actually shuts down X, and in most distribution setups, it will start up again automagically. It is not actually a restart switch, but a kill switch.
