How Do I Remove KDE Apps? It's Clogging My Computer! Help!!!
I am having a HARD time with trying to remove KDE apps from my ubuntu 8.04. I've got around 50 KDE apps that I am DESPERATELY trying to remove, but I cant. Please, someone, help me remove these KDE apps... it's clogging up my computer BIG TIME!
You could remove them from the command line using apt-get remove or aptitude remove. If you don't know the exact names and you don't feel like figuring those out from the command line, you can use System > Admin > Synaptic to find and remove them.

How do you mean "clogging" Disk space? having too many programs installed won't slow down your computer like in Windows. If you don't use 'em, they aren't there.
If for some reason you end up installing such apps anyway, you'll notice that much more is likely to be uninstalled that just these apps. If so, just let it happen and re-install the removed apps when you are finished uninstalling. Your settings won't be removed.

hay73, thanks for the reply. The exact names of the KDE apps don't show up in Synaptic. I was banging my head yesterday trying to look them up inb Synaptic with no luck whatsoever. ANy ideas?
They'll be one package that includes all (or at least a number of) the different apps you have installed. You'll need to find out which package that is and remove it.
What is it about the presence of all this stuff that troubles you? I can't believe you're running out of disk space! Are you like me: just fed-up with all that clutter in the menu? In that case, edit the menu: just right click on it, and take it from there.
