How do i remove a program?


im trying to remove a program
specifically gAIM
can somene tell me how

If you installed with urpmi, it's urpmi removepackage gaim.
If you installed with rpms, it's rpm -e gaim
Or go to your package manager and remove it that way.

Urpmi is Mandrake's auto download/install/upgrade/uninstall program. Type in 'man urpmi' for more deatails and options.

what about uninstalling a program from a .tar.gz file? Is that a bit more complicated?

It can be done, but you it depends on whether it has an uninstall option. Go to where you ran the "make install" and try "make uninstall" - you'll have to do it as root (with su).
