how do i install programs in redhat 8.0
help. i am a total linux :newbie: , and i want to install programs in linux. can some one link me to a guide with screenshots on exactly evreything to do. all help would be apreatiated. thanks.

You want to use RPM. There should be a control center for your RH8 and that center should include a section called software management and the like, which will allow you to (un)install software.

thanks to all of you, i figured out how to install stuff, not as easy as windos and mac.:) :D

But wait, it gets easier and better. Because, RPM not only handles installing and uninstalling, you can also use it to see details on each RPM package installed, including what the package installs, where on your system the package's contents are installed and what other RPM packages that RPM package depends on. Look for a program called KPackage or the like. It should be associated with the RPM file type and should run when you open an RPM file from the file manager window.
