Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I just got Adobe Photoshop CS. I am also new to linux. I installed WINE from source version 20031115 i believe. I used the test and notepad ran. Unfortunately when i type wine /pathtocd/setup.exe it says wine in the taskbar with a spinning hour glass, then disappears and nothing happens. Please note that pathtocd is changed to the actuall path. Also note that I have never used wine before.
I am running Mandrake 9.1.
If anyone has any information please help.
BTW I am a newbie to linux, but a advanced windows user. I have messed around with several options trying to install photoshop 7, in cluding copying a windows registry and placing the directory their. That did not work either for Photoshop 7.
I have used GIMP...
Very proficient with that also...
GIMP is good and all, but it does not have the same amount of features and filters that I require. Disney uses Linux and Photoshop. Photoshop CS additional features are beyond compare right now. I am all about open source but its no compentition.
Yes I did check the info and tips, the CD wont even run proper.
