Exclamation How do I Install Photoshop CD from CD using Wine?

I just got Adobe Photoshop CS. I am also new to linux. I installed WINE from source version 20031115 i believe. I used the test and notepad ran. Unfortunately when i type wine /pathtocd/setup.exe it says wine in the taskbar with a spinning hour glass, then disappears and nothing happens. Please note that pathtocd is changed to the actuall path. Also note that I have never used wine before.

I am running Mandrake 9.1.

If anyone has any information please help.

BTW I am a newbie to linux, but a advanced windows user. I have messed around with several options trying to install photoshop 7, in cluding copying a windows registry and placing the directory their. That did not work either for Photoshop 7.

Thanks and please help.

Have a look at the wine database for info and tips - http://appdb.codeweavers.com/
Better still, have you tried the Gimp under Linux, or Windows - brilliant program.

I have used GIMP...
Very proficient with that also...

GIMP is good and all, but it does not have the same amount of features and filters that I require. Disney uses Linux and Photoshop. Photoshop CS additional features are beyond compare right now. I am all about open source but its no compentition.

Yes I did check the info and tips, the CD wont even run proper.

Try making an iso image and mounting it from linux, then run the install off the mount.

I had to do this with other disks.
