How do I install BitTorrent?

I've downloaded BitTorrent from their site.
The file is .exe, how do I install it or start using it?

you don't. you use a linux client - http://download.bittorrent.com/dl/ or any one of a number of more popular clients e.g. azureus.

Hi,

*.exe won't do you any good in Linux, except if you intend to use wine.

In order to install Bittorrent, I suggest you browse for it through your distro's package manager (If you tell us the distro you're using (use your profile), we could help you a lot better).

Another thing is that bittorrent.com offers downloads for linux, you could download that and just follow the README file.

To be honest you would probably be better with Azureus. It's getting a bit bloated but it's easier to use than a console app. Or you have a look at QtTorrent which is less bloated.

Hi, I admit I have no idea how the Slackware package manager works, so I suggest reading this and other sections of the slackbook.

I agree with dive : use another client (ktorrent/azureus and many more)

With due respect to other advices, may I suggest you to try 'deluge'. This is more light-weight than Azureus and very stable.

As a slackware user, you can check for packages in:
http://www.linuxpackages.net
or:
http://packages.slackware.it/
Here you will find package bittorrent-4.4.0-noarch-1 in current slackware 11 distro (extra/bittorrent).
