How do I import icedove email into outlook?

I am closing down a website for a client. I used icedove to download all of his email (mostly spam). He is an outlook-2002 user.

I assume that icedove stores email in a manner that outlook can import (mbox?). If not, is there some way for me change the format?

I don't even know where icedove stores it's email files.

Any help appreciated.

Icedove is the same as thunderbird, so you can try this freeware program on winblows. http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/th2outlook.php

Thank you.

BTW: in case anybody is interested. The files were stored here:

/root/.mozilla-thunderbird/jva1oj0l.default/Mail

I was logged in as root. I suppose if I was logged in as a user, I would replace /root/ with /home/username/

The mailboxes are stored in .msf format - whatever that is.

The mailboxes are mbox format. There are two files for every mbox. The one without an extension (like INBOX) is the actual mail file. You can open it with pico or nano and browse through all the email jammed together in one long file. The *.msf (like INBOX.msf) file is basically the journal file that tells Thunderbird where each email begins and ends in the big file.

Edit: you can also try importing the mbox files into another mail client like Evolution and see if you can export them as eml files, which can then be read by Outlook Express and then export from OE to a format that Outlook can read.

Another solution might be to setup a quick imap server and then connect to it with Outlook. Then you could probably drag and drop them to Outlook.
