How do I give permission for my Nvidia drivers to work?
I just Downloaded Nvidia drivers but can't install them because the website only gave me a copy and paste line to put into terminal to install but it says that it dosn't have permission. What do iI put in terminal to give it permission?
Please look at right, My LQ, Edit Profile. Could you put your distro into your profile? So people who are experienced with your distro can respond?
OK, assuming you are running Ubuntu. Why don't you use normal installation methods? Installing something manually is the last resort, if desired software is not in the repository. Everything you install using your package manager is recorded and will be updated automatically when new version becomes available.
A lot of people are telling me that programs install normally on Ubuntu but when I try to do it the same way I used to do on windows it says that Ubuntu can not read the format it is in (unincoded UTF8) and the only other thing to select to read the files with is western something and that can't read them either. Also I would set the Distro but ... I don't know what the Distro is. I know it stands for Distrobution but what am i supposed to put there? Where I got my OS?
Ubuntu is your Distro then. There is a GUI tool to install programs, I think it's called Synaptic? (Not sure, please see Ubuntu documentation/FAQ in Ubuntu website.)
