how do I get xmms to play m3u streams?

Hi,

I tried listening to the Internet radio with xmms but I have not found the way to do it. When I do ctrl+L to open the location and I put, for example, http://www.kaos959.com/128.m3u into the box and then press “ok” nothing happens. If I press “play” on the xmms player it opens a “play files” dialog. I have been using Rythmbox to listen to the show, it works fine, but I hate the application and I would really prefer using xmms. What’s the trick here? How do I get xmms to play m3u audio streams?

Thanks,

VS

PS: I am using XMMS 1.2.10 with Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn.

xmms is a dead project. I suggest replacing it with audacious. It's an updated version of xmms with a nice, updated gtk2 gui. I had no trouble playing the location you gave with it.

David the H,

I installed audacious and all the plugins (audacious-crossfade audacious-plugins audacious-plugins-extra) and I have *exactly* the same problem.

I tried both "adding" the m3u stream and "opening" it (from the ctrl+L 'open location') and nothing. Silence.

What am I doing wrong?!?!
