How do i get rid of those @#$! desktop icons!

Frustrated!

How do i get rid of the 'Home' and 'Trashcan' icons in gnome2. I tried to delete them from the '.gnome-desktop' folder, but they keep popping back when i log in again.. Where are the lines i have to delete to get rid of them for good??

They cannot be deleted in this release of Gnome. In the next one I believe that is will be possible to hide them.

If they annoy you, just switch off nautilus desktop rendering entirely (then you won't have any icons at all though on the desktop). You can find the setting in GConf.

Thanks! That helped. Didn't want any icons at all to start with!
