How do I get Macromedia Flashplayer for Firefox?

WOW! I have probably spent 2-3 full days trying to get my machine to use flashplayer 6. I am running Fedora Core 1, using Firefox web browser. I have visited darn near every forum and help site i can find, and nothing seems to work correctly. anybody available for giving me some detailed advice? Most of my problems arise from the fact that i'm extremely new to linux---mostly self-taught with very little help---and most of the explanations/quick fixes on these posts are a little too terse. Help?

Re: How do I get Macromedia Flashplayer for Firefox?

I installed it to the default mozilla directory using the installer off of macromedia's site, and it is working fine on Firefox now.

installing it into a different directory

My default setting places the tarball from Macro's site into my homespace, which is not where the default mozilla stuff is. I am unable to move it, despite having all permissions (same problem as both root and user). which directory exactly do i want to tell firefox to put it into? i have usr/lib/mozilla, usr/lib/mozilla-1.4.1, /usr/lib/mozilla-1.6, and /usr/lib/firefox, the numerous directories are a result of changing from RH9 to Fedora 2-3 weeks ago, when all this trouble started.

thanks

scott

Sorry, I was referring to /usr/lib/mozilla

Hope this works for you, I had some problems at first too.
