how do i execute a jar (java application) in linux

in windows it's a s simple as clicking
in linux i have jre installed(as far as i know)
if u know some test pls let me know

thanx things worked out
but i find that the application in winodws used to load a lot earlier than in linux
woud u like to comment upon this
