Question how do I dial an ISP in Redhat 8?

Hi

I am new to linux and Redhat, but giving it a try. It just does not seem as easy as windows to connect to the net. It cannot find my modem, or my printer, and I dont know how to configure it all to see these items. Then there is no 'contect to..' icon to dial using the modem.

Any advise and help is appreciated

The same as the start menu on windows. If you are running kde its called the k-menu. Lower right hand corner of the screen (if using the gui). It should be under internet somewhere. Or from a terminal prompt, type kppp.

make sure it isn't a winmodem

type this into the terminal:

/sbin/lspci

and post the output and that way we can see if your modem is recognized

also, you should try to keep your posting to one forum topic for the same thread, I noticed a copy of this thread in another topic section of this same forum.

Doh! Good point. I forgot about gnome. Haven't used it in years. It should be on the menu in either KDE or Gnome, or has that changed. The fastest way is to type "kppp" from a prompt.
