How do I copy a AVI file to DVD with LInux??

Hi there...

Just wondering if someone could tell me how I would go about copying a movie in avi file form to DVD. I have DVD Rip and some other programs but am unsure how to go about doing this...could someone tell me the best way and if I need some other sort of software??

I would really like to learn how to do this, but I am a and am doing my best to make my way through this.

I have the file saved, I know where it is, but now I have no idea what to do with it from here to get it on DVD. Please help and explain to me in simple terms, as I am a new linux user.

Thanks

Hi Thanks for the questions...

I will do my best to answer.

I have a dvd burner of course.

Distro?? No idea what this is??

And yes I definately want it to be playable on the DVD player for my tv.

If you tell me what distro is I can answer it as best as I can.
Thanks again for the help

Look into tovid. It makes converting video to dvd-player-readable format easy.

I thought the current version of tovid (0.20) had some issues. I think you can only get a working version from CVS. The tovid forum has some more details.
