Also, would like to mention that the current version of CentOS is 6.5. So yum update will get you to the latest 6.x release. I'm not sure if there's a yum command for targeting a specific minor release.
also depending on just HOW the repo files are set up
6.3 ,6 , or

you ether need to just run update
or
instal the centos6.5 release repo rpm
"centos-release-6-5.el6.centos.11.1.x86_64.rpm"
or
use the --releaserver=6.5 line in yum
