How can I rewrite /boot?
Hi,
I'm (or rather I was) running Red Hat 7.3 on my laptop comuter and I was going to reinstall GRUB and by misstake I wrote: root (hd0,1) setup (hd0,1) Instead of: root (hd0,1) setup (hd0) So I guess I wrote over the /boot partition. Now I can't even boot in rescue mode, is there anything I can do or do I have to format /boot and install linux again? Thanx Micke |
can't you just pass 'root=/dev/hda(partition#)' to the boot loader on the CD-ROM? Not having /boot shouldn't be an issue there. I should know - My hda died last nite on a raid test box and took the only /boot partition with it, but I was able to boot with slack CD.
