how can I make a dvd iso bootable (using k3b)

using suse 10.2 I burnt several files (actually the solaris 10 os which I want to try) and put them in a file called xxxxx.iso. now I from k3b select burn dvd iso image, check the md5 sum and do the burn...everything seems ok but I can't boot off the dvd...is this me doing something wrong or does k3b have "issues"...please advise this is driving me nuts....

You are doing something wrong. Actually, you are doing plenty wrong. Creating a bootable cd or dvd is somewhat of a black art but suffice it to say you have to do more than stick some files in an iso and burn the iso. You also have to properly configure a bootloader, usually isolinux, and properly generate a bootable iso with mkisofs. Here's a little intro to give you an idea about what's involved:

I assume you are trying to consolidate several install cd isos into a single bootable dvd iso. It's theoretically possible but it isn't all that easy. Labor and effort wise, you are usually better off just burning the cds unless you are very familiar with the cd layouts in question, iso manipulation and various arcane aspects of isolinux and mkisofs.

One of these links may help. However, Solaris will have a different bootloader that you will probably use instead of LiLo ( see the second link ) The Solaris disk may have a readme file with more information on creating a boot floppy. You use the image file of a boot floppy to make a CD bootable. I think it would be the same for a DVD.
