How can I limit the CPU usage of a PID?

Hi, Somtimes I need to run tasks that hog the CPU.

Rendering a big image/ Making a new kernel etc.

Not when I do this there are some apps that dont run very well-

I was wondering if there is any way to run the process so it only uses a % of the cpu-

Like a:
Make PID 1243 and all its children only use 33% of the CPU.

I know nice puts it at a lower priority but the process will still hog the CPU if nothing else is running.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
