You need to install the Java SDK and set it in your path.
|
LimeWire installation is driving me NUTS!!!....
I already installed JRE (Java Runtime Enviroment) isnt it enough? Firefox is running Java, i set PATH righty... :/ Do i have to install SDK?? I really dont understand... JRE comes with VM, doesnt it?... im lost here, i googled, i asked, i waited... im desperate and i dont know what to do anymore...
|
...
Look, i even tested the VM on java teste page:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp And its working! I got it installed! Someone, help me understand WHERE do i have to set PATH to my java directory, maybe i set PATH on the wrong conf file (??)... BTW, im using Slack 9.0... |
type "env" in a terminal to check your current PATH
did you try gtk-gnutella? http://gtk-gnutella.sourceforge.net/ |
Ok, here's what im getting:

So, any clue?? |
i know there are alot of people having trouble with installing limewire, because of java.
it seemed for most people this worked: /home/user/.bashrc or .bash_profile export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/j2sdk1.3.1 export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH ofcourse, for me, where nothing on my computer is the same as anybody elses, i changed /usr/lib to /usr/java and that seemed to work at first. until i got these warnings, and at the same time, i got the window for limewire, but almost all of the text and click boxes weren't visible. i had to click blindly to figure out where 'ok' and 'cancel' where: Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>Escape,_Key_Cancel" to type VirtualBinding Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>Home,_Key_Begin" to type VirtualBinding Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>F1,_Key_Help" to type VirtualBinding Warning: Cannot convert string "Shift<Key>F10,_Key_Menu" to type VirtualBinding Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>F10,Shift_Key_Menu" to type VirtualBinding Warning: Cannot convert string "<Key>KP_Enter,_Key_Execute" to type VirtualBinding Warning: Cannot convert string "Alt<Key>Return,Alt_Key_KP_Enter" to type VirtualBinding i hope that the path thing helps you... |
yea i just went through this last night, you just gotta set your path correctly and make sure that you know exactly what version of java you have....
you might also wanna check out this thread.... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...002/06/1/22293 |
This is .bashrc (and i had a copy of this file named .bash_profile, just in case)
# Manually created file to run LimeWire... #export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/j2re1.4.2_03/bin:. #export CLASSPATH=/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/lib:. # Modification of depair... export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/j2re1.4.2_03 export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH And nothing done.... Anyone have a better shot?? |
Just remember:
michel@michel:~$ echo $PATH /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/opt/www/htdig/bin:/usr/local/j2re1.4.2_03/bin:/opt/kde/bin:/usr/lib/qt-3.1.2/bin:/usr/share/texmf/bin:.:/usr/local/j2re1.4.2_03/bin:. michel@michel:~$ echo $CLASSPATH /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_03/lib:. michel@michel:~$ dont know what to do -bash: dont: command not found michel@michel:~$ So please dont tell me to configure PATH, im tired of reading this... but if theres something wrong with $PATH and/or $CLASSPATH, please let me know... |
And i created the java.sh file, chmod to be executable, etc...
|
ever thought of just using a decent client instead? http://gift.sf.net
|
yes i have tried. once before... a long time ago. and if i rem correctly, it was an even bigger pain in the ass that limewire. but this is what i don't get. before i formatted my laptop, i had it installed without any trouble like this. was it because i was using RH9 instead of 8, like i'm using now? or some other reason?
