How can I disable Mozilla's "Talkback"?
 

I want to get Mozilla 1.3, but all of the avialable installers have "Talkback." Can I disable this? And if so, how?

during install choose Custom Install and unselect talkback.

at least that's what it says on their website - I don't use Mozilla.

EDIT: you know though that one way to do ones part in the open source community is to submit bug reports. I know it does seem to be a bit of invasion of ones privacy (sending info about your rig to an unknown company) But this isn't M$ were talking about this is Mozilla. It helps selfless hackers hack mo' better programs...just food for thought - you should obviously do what you are most comfortable with - Good Luck.

I don't really care if I can submit bug reports, but I think Mozilla's Talkback would uniquely identify my browser and record the page I was on. It's not so much that I have something to hide, as it is that I like to be in control.

If you elected to install Talkback when you initially installed Mozilla, you can still turn it off by running the Talkback application independently. On Windows (not sure if same for Linux), you can find the Talkback app in the "components" subdirectory of Mozilla. Run the Talkback app and it will give you the option for turning it off.

Thanks. It's under "components" in Windows, too.

I ended up installing Mozilla with Talkback, and I found it wasn't as automatic as I thought it would be.
