How can I change pop and smtp settings in Evolution?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I am using gmail, and want to change the settings to 995 for pop and 587 for smtp. I looked everywhere I could think of in the program to no avail. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Thank you for your time.

Hi,

AFAIK, this is not possible with evolution.
However, I solved this problem by using fetchmail to retrieve the mail from gmail.

set postmaster "postmaster"
set no bouncemail
set no spambounce
set properties ""
set daemon 300

poll pop.gmail.com proto pop3 and options no dns
user 'user@gmail.com' there with password 'password' is 'repo' here options ssl

Then you can configure evolution to retrieve the mail local.
For SMTP I use exim, but you can also use the smtp from your provider

Regards

Try appending ":995" to the POP hostname and ":587" to the SMTP hostname. EG:

POP host: mail.yourdomain.com:995
SMTP host: mail.ispdomain.com:587
