I have firefox (19.0.2) running on a Linux Laptop with Fedora 12 and listen to a web-radio stream. How can I record this stream and save it into e.g. a mp3 file?
After searching the web for a solution I can record the following trials I have made:
(1) With audacity I am able to record audio, but the microphone input of the laptop! So its with a lot of noise and all the surrounding noises. And please expect that I never heard of 'alsa' or 'pulse-audio' (and have no idea what that means). Simple-to-follow suggestion how to get audacity to record the audio that is going to the internal loudspeakers are appreciated nevertheless.
(2) I tried with lame:
arecord -f cd -t raw | lame -x -r test.mp3
but all I get was just noise. I tried some settings (option -D), but still just loud noise (and only noise).
(3) I searched for a simple firefox plugin. Should not be hard to code a plug-in which just saves the recorded stream. This plug-in even could filter out times when the buffer ran out. THERE IS NO SUCH PLUGIN! Or I am too stupid to find it. Point me out to such a plug-in or tell me, how to create a plug-in for firefox - I will do it myself!
Suggestions to the above points or something else, which is easy and just record the audio stream received by LAN would be great!!
OFFTOPIC: Fedora 12 is way out of date and totally unsupported, so you get neither bugfixes nor, more important, security updates for it. It is strongly recommended to use a supported version.
Great! Your suggestion actually works. And it looks like to noise issue is with lame as I am having problems converting a wav into mp3. But that is a different issue...
