how can a module be loaded automatically

the output of lsmod indicated that the module via82cxxx_audio was loaded everytime the system startup,I wan't to remove the module once for all because it can't drive my soundcard.but I can't find anything related to via82cxxx_audio in /etc/modules.conf .
I wonder why it was loaded automatically when the system boot ? Is there anyway other than /etc/modules.conf?
How can I prevent it being loaded?

As usual, Debian does things a bit differently. /etc/modules is where Debian places all modules to be loaded on booting up.
