home directories missing after upgrade to 2.4.26

I have no idea what is going on. But after I upgraded my debian dist to 2.4.26 (from 2.4.25) I no longer have any of the home directories for any of my users. I know they are on the drive because if boot back into the 2.4.25 kernel everything is there.

Maybe there is a configuration option I missed while configuring my new kernel?

I am very lost. If someone could point me in some places to look for corrections I would appreciate it. Thanks!

It sounds like you missed the hd controller for the drive that contains the home directories, you missed the file system for the drive, or you configuring the boot offboard chipsets first option opposite of the way you did it before.

..or i missed the ext3 fs support (which is what the /home partition is using).

i went back and remade a kernel with ext3 with journaling support and it came back in the new kernel. silly me.
