Home budget software for Linux?
 

Hello!

In the past, I've used Gnumeric spreadsheets to layout the household budget in. With some changes in our lifestyle (homeownership does that, I'm told), I now need something a little more tailor-made for keeping a budget (personal not business/professional).

I've hunted through these forums and I'm not seeing much other than GnuCash. I thought I saw a post where someone recommended a program for just such a purpose, but I can't find that post again (for all I know, it could even have been on another site which I got to through a google search for something close, but not related at the time.

Ours is an all-Linux home network---not a single copy of Windoze in the house. I prefer to go with free programs, but I'd be willing to pay for a program once I ran it through my gauntlet and found it worthy. *grin*

KMyMoney - I haven't used either, but both seem adequate for your needs.

If you want something more like MS Money (and don't mind paying), Moneydance may be good for you. They also have a free trial option.

I haven't used a Windows computer since 1998 and that was only at work. Our household went
from Mac to Linux around 2001. I've used Quicken, but it really wasn't what I was looking for.
I've never seen/used MSMoney, so I wouldn't know what it was like.

I suggest Microsoft Money if it works with Wine or any version of it. If that doesn't work, I'd try to find the closest thing to its equivalent. I'd try out Moneydance, but I'd rather use the free trial when I wanted to use it rather than just test it out and probe it.
