Hmmm...just a few questions :)

Recently I tried Xandros Linux...which is a distro directed at windows users. It's VERY easy, and a nice distro, but it's just not my thing...I don't really like debian systems. One of the main cool things that I noticed though, is that you never have to mount or un mount your cd rom. If you pop a cd in...and close it, it automatically mounts and konqueror opens up in /mnt/cdrom. Also...even if you are still in the directory in konqueror...and hit your eject button...it opens and /mnt/cdrom closes. No need to mount or un mount! I like that allot. How did they do that? Is there a way anyone can do this?

Second, KDE is the desktop environment that they use...yet what they did to the kmenu button is cool. It is rectangular...and says "launch"...much like the windows button. How would they use a button of this shape?

Anyway, I just found these features cool, and was wondering if they could be implemented to any distro.

Thanks.

1. I think they use "supermount" for this

2. I would guess that it's just a KDE theme, go to kde-look.org to have a look at other things being done with KDE.

cool...I'll check into that. There is also something called autofs...could that be what mounts and unmounts? *searches*

With Mandrake 10.1 it's just the same, you pop in a CD an d it starts playing ! Also they have changed the KDE launch button with the Mandrake star. Can't say I'm a big fan of it, though :) I think I'll have a go at Xandros, too, I like seeing what other linux flavors there are.

Cheers

I know how to change the button...but check this out:

It isn't just changing the picture...it changes the shape. Looks like they changed the code of kde or something. It's kind of cool though. :)
