Where did you download it from? Where there any instructions on that site?

Downloads : http://sourceforge.net/projects/arquimedes/files/

Home http://archimedes.incubadora.fapesp....imedes-project

.....

There is no install :
unzip Archimedes-0.64.0.Shortcuts-linux.gtk.x86.zip
cd Archimedes/
./Archimedes

A GUI will open.

I very really have any luck installing programs that I have downloaded.

The commands do not work in terminal.

I am just wondering that I have errors with Linux in general, nothing dose not appear to work at all with any downloads in terminal.

Add/Remove programs work.

When you open the terminal window,
your location is /home/<username>/
Not Desktop/ , not any other location.

To know, where you are, please type : pwd

Example : The "Archimedes.....zip" is in the folder
/home/<username>/Downloads/

1) The first command is : cd Downloads/
2) Next : unzip Archimedes-0.64.0.Shortcuts-linux.gtk.x86.zip
3) cd Archimedes/
4) ./Archimedes

I tried what you had mentioned, no success.

esktop:~$ cd Archimedes/
bash: cd: Archimedes/: No such file or directory
sg1@sg1-desktop:~$ ./Archimedes
bash: ./Archimedes: No such file or directory
sg1@sg1-desktop:~$

The idea is : cd <path-to-Achimedes-folder>/Archimedes/ .
As you can see, your location is not the Archimedes/ folder
Typing ./Archimedes will not bring you anywhere before you
get familiar with the 'pwd' command, and know where you are.

And please do not quote all text in every post.
And do not add a dozen spaces in the middle of the posts.
Better hit the edit button to straighten up things.

Poor formatting / unreadable, hard to read posts : People loose interest.
Or the posts will not be read at all.
