Ive just installed SUSE 8.2 a couple of weeks ago and so far Ive learned quite a bit.Got my printer sound card Internet and e-mail working. It is so different to use than windows.I have a dual boot system with windows XP Pro on the other partition.Ive tried to get Unreal tournement 2003 to work on linux wit no luck so far.Ive tried to use wine to install the linux verson off of the 3rd
UT2003 disk but so far no luck.Anyway Its nice to find a fourm to shoot the breeze. If anyone can help out with how to install UT2003 I could use the help. Thanks Later Pat S.
wow, what a distro to start with, you will learn a ton! Suse 8.2 is a really nice distro out of the box, but it was a beyotc* installing apps after wards. Anyway, you might want to try wineX instead of wine for a game like UT2003.
UT2003 to the best of my knowledge comes with it's own linux installer. It's found on the 3rd disk. Some people have reported problems though if you run it directly off the CD, so copy the installer to your home dir and try it from there.
Thanks for the quick reply and help.I know that there is a installer on disk 3 but I cant get it to work yet.Once I get games to work and learn the system well Im going to dump windows altogether.Again Thanks
PS My name is Pat I live in Vancouver WA.I repair computers and work in a grocery store also. How about you.
welcome to the best place for linux newbies (id clasify myself as being 50% newbie...heh)
I managed to get the UT2003 demo working on my computer (RH9.0), but not the full thing. Oh well, I will buy ut2004 when it comes out and try again with that.
