Hex editor?

It is quite astounding, but I'm unable to find a decent hex editor for GNU/Linux -- let alone a really good one.

I don't really care if it is GUI or console based, but it has to work properly, the curses-based ones that I've tried somehow manage to corrupt its own display by merely scrolling through the file being edited.

So, my question is, what is a good hex editor for GNU/Linux? If possible I'd gladly like to know both the name of a console based one and another GUI-based one. What do you guys use?

Which ones have you tried and rejected and why? If we know this we won't suggest ones you have already dismissed.

I've tried GHex and one or two others, but the only name that comes to mind is GHex. For KDE, there's KHexEdit. It seems very nice. I haven't used it, but I glanced at it.
EDIT: I agree with XavierP, that would help.

Okteta replaced KHexEdit and is much better, bless was also good the last time I used it, but Okteta have much more feature. The only one I am missing from all those are assembly conversion and side by side assembly vs Hex.

I don't see what's wrong with hexedit, works great.

Also try:

I've tried all of these and they are quite good.

Yeah, I've seen Okteta but I don't think I've even run it. Using Slackware 13.1 it's replaced by Okteta, also.
