LinuxQuestions.org - help with xawTV and webcam overlay issue

hello all. i finnaly got my webcam to semi work, but this i mean it will turn on, it is recognized by xawtv and will work good enough in fullscreen mode, but only displays a black screen when in overlay mode...

what more info do you need to help me help you help me fix this issue.

Debian is the distro sarge edition if that matters/helps. i do not have mplayer, and do not want to mess with getting it installed. it does not play nice with the sarge edition of debian and KDE desktop.

i run Kaffeine for my media (movies), XMMS for mp3 and other audio if that also helps. my system is fully up to date as of today with apt-get upgrade.
