help with wireless config

i have a compaq r3000z notebook with a broadcom 54g 802.11g wireless nic, and it has a button on the ouside to enable the wireless on/off. i just got it to work using ndiswrapper and the driver that came with the computer (for winxp).

my question now is how to connect to a wireless network, or config the card, or do whatever i need to do to get on the internet..
the following are commands i have entered into the terminal and what they have come back as. i'm hoping they will help you determine where i'm at.

also, does anyone know of a graphical interface for linux that will manage wireless access points, config for the card, and stuff?

Code:
linux:/media/cdrecorder/SWSetup/WLAN # iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

from the above, u can see ur card already recognize ur router. all u need to do is configure it
there is a million ways of how to do this
but i do most of this stuff in terminal
there are also different ways for different driver
here is just one way i remember
first u didn't give an ip addr & netmask for ur wificard
second, u didn't gve the gateway ip
third, u didn't give the dns ip.
#/sbin/ifconfig wlan0 ip_addr netmask masknumber
#/sbin/route add default gw gateway_addr
now if u just substitute them with real numbers, ur card should be workin right away
i am not familiar with ur card, or broadcom.
so i am not sure u need to make a startup script or not
