Wondered if anyone could shed a little light on the procedure required to get Wine working. I am running slackware 9.1 and have installpkg'd the latest wine version. I have also run winesetuptk, without any errors. When I try and run wine I get:
agamemnon{spook}:wine
err:heap:HEAP_GetPtr Invalid heap (nil)!
err:module:load_builtin_callback can't load ntdll.dll
err:heap:HEAP_GetPtr Invalid heap (nil)!
err:module:load_builtin_callback can't load ntdll.dll
err:heap:HEAP_GetPtr Invalid heap (nil)!
err:module:load_builtin_callback can't load kernel32.dll
wine: could not load kernel32.dll, status c0000017
I get the same output regardless of which windows binary I am trying to run. No doubt it is a very simple error on my part, but this is my first attempt at Wine.
Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion: I had no success with that though, but I have now downloaded the source and compiled it myself, instead of using the package, and I now have it working.
Thanks
