Tips on how to replace Exchange

I'm running an old Exchange 2000 box and I need to replace it pretty badly. We keep hitting that wonderful 16GB limit it has resulting in a mail server that shuts down. Because of this problem the previous admin decided it would be a good idea (along with my manger) to make everyone save emails to .pst files instead of on the mail server. So now I've got an even bigger headache to try an handle.

Needless to say I've been trying to find a replacement for my exchange box before it dies. I've done some searching and found some great suggestions in this thread:

Does anyone have experience with this and can offer suggestions on how to migrate users seamlessly? Do you suggest one solution over another, if so why? I don't have much experience with mail servers so this will be a learning experience for me.

Thanks!

well if you go with Open-xchange or zimbra commercial support is available... nice to have in your back pocket if ever needed. they are also the most complete of the replacement options as far as I know. and BOTH have free versions. You only have to pay if you want some of the extras..
