Help with Red Hat Drivers

How much of a difference are there between the (keyboad) drivers in RH 7.3 than in 7.2? The reason I asked is b/c I have a keyboard that works completely in 7.2, yet doesn't work completely in 7.3? By work completely, I mean that the system can regconize every scancode sent by the keyboard (using showkeys -s). With 7.3, I am not able to use keys (kernel, Xserver doesn't know) such as F14, F15, ..., F20.

Also, how would I go about fixing this problem? I know that RH7.2 works... do I just tried to copy the drivers in 7.2 and put them in 7.3? Or is it much more complicated than that. Do I need to rebuild the kernel. I'm not all that familar with RH drivers, so I would appreciate any help/suggestions.

Thanks!

Well if you can get the scancodes with showkeys -s then all you have to do is assign the keys to an action. The following howto will explain more about how to get that done.

Thanks. But if I can't even get the scancode (using showkey -s) to appear, is there anything I can do to fix that?

The kernel was able to recognize them when I install RH 7.2 (2.4.7-10), but not with 7.3 (2.4.18-3). So, what would I need to do to get 7.3 to work. You would think that if something works for a lower version (7.2), it would work with on a higher version (7.3).

Here is a site to get software that will allow you to configure several different keys on several different model keyboards.

Follow the directions in the readme files and it works great. I now have every key volume, mute, internet shortcuts and such all working on my Logitech corless keyboards.

I am running RH 7.3 and had no problems.
